January 2, 2024
National Activity Professionals Week is January 21-27, 2024. Aegis Therapies collaborates with many activity professionals across the country. They are a part of a vitally important profession that helps people live a life that is full of fun and meaningful activities. They are the heart and spirit of the community; they are the foundation of person-centered, person-directed care and quality of life. Activity professionals design, implement, and evaluate activity programs that engage residents on a variety of skill and cognitive levels.
Activity Professionals focus on:
- Putting the resident first – They create individual relationships and ensure the needs of each resident are met daily.
- Lifting residents’ spirits – knowing their residents and understanding what makes them unique is part of their daily tasks. They have a magic gift that lifts spirits and infuses positivity into the community.
- Residents’ physical and mental health – Activity professionals run programs that focus on every dimension of wellness. They help to improve residents’ emotional, intellectual, physical, social, occupational and spiritual well-being through a variety of activities.
- Inclusion and engagement – Loneliness can be detrimental in seniors. Activity professionals ensure each and every resident gets daily interaction, whether that is through technology, one-on-one interactions, or group gatherings.
To all the activity professionals, we at Aegis Therapies would like to extend a sincere thank you! We understand the importance of what you do every day and how each day brings new challenges. Thank you for keeping our older adults happy, engaged and fulfilled!
