CMS Announces Delay in Effective Date for Medicare Programs Addressing Episode Payment Models (EPMs)

In the Friday May 19, 2017, 2017 Federal Register, The Department of Health and Human Services and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services published the final rule and decision regarding the Advancing Care Coordination through Episode Payment Models (EPMs); Cardiac Rehabilitation Incentive Payment Model; and Changes to the Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement Model.

This rule now has an effective date of May 20, 2017, and confirms the delay in implementation of the Cardiac EPMs (including the addition of Surgical Hip/Femur Fracture Treatments – SHFFT), and CJR conforming regulation changes to January 1, 2018.
