Overview:
The changes to the MDS 3.0 database in 2016 and prospective changes in 2017 will require all facilities to evaluate their data collection process and change their documentation processes in their medical records. Compliance is not negotiable with CMS – it is required. The interdisciplinary team and front line staff need to be aware of the changes and some documentation forms need to be added or current formats adapted to meet the accuracy and reproducibility standards in the federal regulations (regulatory TAGs). This fast-moving session will identify the changes that have been put into place and then review the changes that need to be made to achieve compliance. The discussion will include examples of documentation formats, staff education approaches as well as very clear definitions of the current and newly announced data format changes. A must-do session for the entire IDT. Bring the team for this stimulating and thought-provoking interaction.
